Organize your Research Vault
Store documents, group records into folders, and find what you need without confusing private records with official submissions.
Before you start
Choose whether you are uploading a private file or importing a bibliographic record. Check the file limits displayed in the upload control.
Add a document or research record
Use Upload for a supported PDF, DOCX, PPTX or XLSX file. Files are stored privately under your account. Import actions can also help parse exported scholarly records from BibTeX, RIS or CSV in your browser; an imported record is distinct from an uploaded file.
Import papers with a DOI or arXiv link
You can quickly add published papers or preprints to your Research Vault or Universal Submission Tracker using their permanent identifier.
Open the import modal and enter a standard DOI (such as 10.1016/...) or an arXiv link or identifier (such as arXiv:2301.12345). ScholarVault automatically fetches the title, authors, publication date, abstract, and open-access reading link so you can preview everything before adding it.
- Click Import in your Research Vault or Track a submission in your dashboard.
- Paste the DOI or arXiv link into the identifier field and click Fetch.
- Review the paper preview and choose whether to add it to your Research Vault, submission tracker, or both.
Import public works from ORCID
ORCID sign-in and publication import are separate. To import publications, open the Vault import action, choose ORCID Sync, and enter or confirm the ORCID iD. ScholarVault retrieves works that are public on that ORCID record; signing in by itself does not import publications.
- Fetch the public works for the ORCID iD.
- Review the matched titles, years, DOIs and venues.
Find and organize
Create folders for a project or topic, then use search, document type, folder and date filters to narrow your list. The summary cards take you to documents, collections or favorites. Topic summaries appear as records are added.
- Create a folder for a research area.
- Upload or import the appropriate record.
- Search or filter when you need it again.
Download or delete a file
A stored document row offers a download action and a delete action. Deleting asks you to confirm the exact document before removing the account record and its private file. Treat the action as permanent; download a copy first if you need one.
A practical example
Create a folder for a literature review, upload a supported document, then search for it by title. Importing a citation adds reference metadata; it does not retrieve the full text or submit the work to a conference.
Check your result
The document can be found in the intended account and folder. Browser-only imported records should be treated separately from server-stored files.
If something does not work
If an upload fails, check the supported type and size shown by the interface, then retry once your connection is stable.
If imported details are wrong, review titles, DOI and year before saving. Never assume that matching a title proves authorship.
Download a needed copy before confirming deletion. Browser storage clearing can remove browser-only records.
