Academic Impact, ORCID and your portfolio

Review public citation metrics and prepare your academic portfolio without confusing metrics with publication imports.

Start with your research identity

Open Academic Impact & PBAS from your profile or dashboard. Add or confirm your ORCID iD. An iD entered into a profile and an identity authenticated through ORCID have different verification states.

Refresh public metrics

Refresh metrics looks up citation counts, h-index and i10-index from OpenAlex using the ORCID iD. Check the matched author before choosing Use these metrics. OpenAlex can differ from Google Scholar and other indexes; use the displayed source and refresh time when interpreting results.

Refreshing metrics does not import publications. Import publications is a separate action with a review step.

Prepare a portfolio

The PDF portfolio editor helps organise academic work for career or performance review. PBAS means Performance Based Appraisal System; your institution determines its accepted evidence and rules. Imported titles do not prove authorship role, indexing, journal impact factor or acceptance.

Example and recovery

A researcher refreshes metrics using their ORCID iD, checks the author match, then separately reviews public works for import. If no author is matched, confirm the iD and public record. An empty result does not mean the researcher has no academic output.
